Wilton's Music Hall - Tower Bridge, London
Wilton’s is the last surviving and oldest grand music hall in the world.
From 1859 - for close on 30 years - Wilton’s was alive with the magic of classical overtures, opera, choral, folk, dance, burlesque, circus acts, comedy and contemporary songs.
1500 people used to cram into the music hall to hear the top acts of the day.
Auntie's visit to Wilton's Music Hall was a 70th Birthday Party for the recently deceased Christian Wolffer, millionaire wine-grower. The party was themed around 1950’s Buenos Aires Tango, with other Argentinean influences.
We accompanied live performances, act as a backdrop to some hired Tango-dancers - and a fab disco at the end of the night.
Design Museum - South Bank, London
Auntie has been used by Squint Opera a number of times for jobs which have required a specific technical twist to achieve complex animations beyond the normal requests made by their clients.
Luigi Colani’s three-month exhibition at the Design Museum last year received some great attention, not only for the fantastic scale models he had brought with him – but also for Squint Opera’s oversized projections which immersed visitors in the designers strange universe. Auntie was asked to re-interpret his designs for planes, helicopters, boats and monorails - into an underwater world which was accompanied by Squint Music’s ominous soundtrack.
The highly organic vehicles became deep-sea creatures, shoals of fish and creepy leviathans – which treated those in the museum to a look at the more surreal corners of the German designer’s mind!
Amanjena Hotel, Morocco
This place is Amanjena, Morocco’s Moorish rose, a resort secluded in a private lush haven near the pulsating Medina of Marrakech. Here we entertained a private birthday party with bespoke material set to music, following the James Bond theme of the party. Butch Auntie's most 'black tie' event yet!
Cargo, Shoreditch
Fantastic Papa Records Launch for Pete Simpson's new album.
Bestival 2007
This tightly orchestrated Live show was rehearsed with the fantastic Eric Kleptone for his DJ set at Bestival 2007. With some serious collaboration in the weeks running up to the event, we created some blistering bespoke material which was driven by Eric's own mixing software - kicking off video samples in time with the music, accompanying Butch Auntie's Live Mix. See how the crowd reacted here!:
Venue: Fulham Palace
This gig saw us entertaining a 'South Pacific' themed private party in the grounds of the beautiful Fulham Palace. Cutting bespoke material together we created a fun atmosphere for guests and dancefloor demons alike.
Venue: Palau Sant Jordi, Barcelona
